A letter from Indy Pass Director Erik Mogensen

Dear Indy Pass family,

There is no way around it, Indy Pass continues to experience remarkable growth year after year. That growth is indicative of a shift in the industry. Skiers and snowboarders continue to push back against mega corporations. Demanding that skiing be more than a transaction and doing so by opting to spend their money, and more importantly, their time at independently-run operations. The soon-to-be 300 options on the 26/27 Indy Pass are places to gather and celebrate the sport and culture of skiing.

But with remarkable growth comes greater responsibility. We must continue to support our resorts with revenue and visits while at the same time respecting capacity limits. Championing the comfortable atmosphere our partner resorts are known for is the entire purpose of the Indy Pass. Never should we compromise the very thing we set out to preserve in the first place.

The waitlist has been an essential tool over the past four years, allowing the Indy Pass to grow responsibly. There are not an unlimited supply of independent resorts that we can add to the pass, especially in North America. Demand will continue to outpace the supply.

Last season, 71% of passholders opted into our auto-renewal option, guaranteeing them next year’s pass. Even then, our number one customer service pain point has been current passholders missing their renewal opportunity and losing their spot to a very eager group of people on the waitlist.

Starting today, we’re introducing a new purchase process that requires an auto-renewal subscription. It’s crucial to note that you can opt out at anytime after your purchase is processed and still maintain your 26/27 Indy Pass. However, if you do opt out we will open a corresponding purchase spot from the waitlist for the next season.
If you later decide that you do in fact want an Indy Pass for the subsequent season, you must rejoin the waitlist and follow the same process in waiting for a spot to open up.

This simple process will guarantee our renewing and loyal passholders a seat on the bus every year at the guaranteed best price. Returning passholders make up the largest percentage of our audience, and they are the main drivers and requesters of this change.

Secondly, we have a large group of people who want to secure their first Indy Pass. The waitlist provides an opportunity to do that, but the uncertainty of waiting until the season nears has compromised families' ability to effectively plan their winter. This is especially true when you consider the extreme price increases other passes put into place as the season approaches in the fall.

The bottom line: this process will guarantee returning passholders a pass at the best price for as long as you want it, and get more people off the waitlist sooner.

Commitment to Affordability

We felt we could be more aggressive with pricing on our flagship product, the Indy+ Pass. We are reducing the price to $399 Adult to offer more ski access and zero blackout dates at a more affordable price.

Those who have been skiing with us for years know that we've been holding the line on pricing for quite some time, and we are increasing our other products slightly to better support our member mountains. I have to balance keeping the pass price down and the mountains being paid a fair price for a visit. Operation costs for our ski areas  continue to sky rocket, and remaining independent is getting more competitive.

We are incredibly proud to offer the Indy Add-On Base Pass at a ridiculously low price of $269 Adult, $169 Kid for those who plan to purchase an unrestricted pass to a member mountain. Proof of this purchase is required, but does not need to be verified until the start of 26/27. The Add-On Pass is a unique way to support your home Indy Pass mountain with a season pass purchase and still take adventures to any other Indy partner.
